  • Founding of Deutz Engine

Deutz's predecessor was NA Otto & Cie, founded on March 31, 1864 by Nicholas Otto and Eugen Langen. The name Deutz is due to the company's success in 1869, when the company moved to Cologne Deutz and renamed it Gasmotoren-Fabrik Deutz (roughly Gasmotorenfabrik Deutz). It was at this time that Nicolas Otto invented the four-stroke internal combustion engine.

The origins of Deutz can be traced back to its founders, Eugen Langen and August Otto. Langen and Otto invented the first four-stroke gasoline engine. They are used as horse generators for hay balers and electric threshers. Of course, tractors first appeared after World War I, when farms across the country faced labor shortages. The labor shortage was caused by the deaths of millions of farmers during the war.

 

During World War II, Deutz converted water-cooled engines to air-cooled engines to improve reliability in the extreme conditions of military warfare. Air-cooled engines were a trademark of Deutz Corporation from World War II until the 1990s. The company realized that its larger tractor models needed a small, narrow hood to compete in the market. As a result, the company replaced the air-cooled engine with a shorter, quieter, narrower water-cooled engine. Air-cooled options are only available on models under 100 hp.

 

Nikolaus Augusto Otto and Eugen Langen founded a company called NA Otto and Sea in Cologne, Germany in 1864. The company was the world's first engine factory and was renamed Klöckner-Humboldt-Deutz AG in 1938.

 

N.A. Otto and E. Langen developed the naturally aspirated gas engine in 1867 and won a gold medal at the Paris Universal Exhibition. The medal was awarded to the most economical light industrial machinery.

 

In 1876, Nicolas Otto completed the design and construction of the "four-stroke" internal combustion engine. These engines are designed to run on any type of fuel and operate worldwide in Cologne.

 

In 1884, Otto invented the low-voltage magnet to facilitate the development of electricity. Later, Robert Bosch used this electronic ignition system in his company.

 

In 1907, Otto encouraged mass production of diesel engines at the GFD, but the engines and tractors that Otto produced in the United States were self-propelled. In 1894, Otto took over the manufacture and sale of this equipment in Philadelphia.

 

Born in Italy from 1907-1912, Ettore Bugatti ran the GFD company in Cologne and oversaw car production. In 1914, the company celebrated its 50th anniversary with an engine with a combined output of 90,000 horsepower. The company will employ approximately 3,400 employees and 700 administrative staff.

 

In 1921, when a consortium was formed with the Oberursel AG engine factory, the company name was changed to Deutz AG. Six years later, in 1927, Deutz produced the first road tractor with a supercharged diesel engine in Cologne. The 14hp Deutz MTH 222 has two forward gears and one reverse gear.

 

In 1930, the Deutz engine Company plant merged with the Humboldt Company engineering organization. The Humboldt AG mechanical engineering laboratory was established in 1856. The Oberursel AF engine factory was founded in 1892 and merged with Humboldt-Deutz Engines AG. Since 1934, many German tractors have been produced and sold in Cologne.

  • Deutz Engine

The Deutz engine F2M315 project was completed in 1934 and the F3M317 started production in 1935. Known as the "Tractor Man", the F1 M414 was designed with an 11-horsepower, single-cylinder, water-cooled engine. This compact tractor is the world's first mass-produced compact tractor. This machine was vital to the widespread use of small farm implements, and the 414 was sold until 1951. In 1951-1959, air-cooled tractors were sold.

In 1950, five years after the end of World War II, engine production resumed. Around 13,000 employees produce 40,000 Deutz engine, with a total capacity of 1.5 million. Production of 10,000 tractors, 6,000 industrial vehicles, and sales of 300 million.

This era is the most popular era of air-cooled engines. The most commonly used model is the 15HPF1L 514 model. Thanks to this model, Deutz was able to introduce dual brakes for direct takeoff. FL712 can be purchased and used with D25, D40, and D15 engines. This new design incorporates the beneficial characteristics of the front suspension for improved ride quality and traction.

The D-Series tractors were introduced to the market in 1958, with the D40 being the most successful. Beginning in 1964, the machine was designed for 6 cylinders. In fact, the D80 has a very beneficial power of 75 horsepower. The D05 series was produced in 1965 with a four-wheel drive, and over 350,000 D06 series cars were sold.

Deutz-Fahr was established in 1968 after taking over the majority of shares from Fahr. Fahr Gottmadingen is the leading company of the Klockner-Humboldt-Deutz Group and has been producing agricultural machinery since the 19th century.

In 1969, Deutz-Fahr acquired Kodel & Bohm, an agricultural machinery manufacturer based in Ratingen, Bavaria.

The 1970s were a positive decade for Deutz, who introduced the INTRAC series of tractors in 1972. The production offers a range of specialty tractors with automatic mechanical attachments, front linkages, power take-offs, and forward cabins. These characteristics make this series of tractors extremely effective in civil, industrial, and agricultural applications.

The Deutz-DX series of tractors was introduced in 1978. This new generation of equipment is equipped with synchronized gears, all-wheel drive, automatic traction control, forced lubrication, flexible suspension, and an electric cab outputting 80-200 CV.
